Moments in May

While it feels like this Whole 30 thing has been eating up so much of our time (hee hee....get it? eating up so much of our time?? Sigh. I am a geek), we've had many moments so far in May of focusing on other things.

We took Lincoln out of swimming lessons. He's had them since he was 3 and the last 1.5 years it has been a fight getting him to go, every.single.Saturday.morning. He LOVES swimming and can do it quite well (for his age), but he hated the lessons so much. And no wonder - sitting on the side of the pool most of the lesson just was not his cup of tea, or mine. So after watching another lesson of where he sat on the edge of the pool more than he was in the pool, I said, "Forget this waste of time business.". I'll teach him this summer - I am a "lifeguard" after all.

So we signed him up for this and haven't looked back. He LOVES it and he goes willingly every time. We are thankful for this. It's good for him and his energy levels, and even if it wasn't, have you seen little kids in karate outfits?! They look so adorable!! :o)

Keziah is itching for summer to start. She is so done with school. And Lincoln is so done playing by himself all the time. They miss each other a lot when she is in school. When she is home, they are often found together. Here they are working on a puzzle.

And if they aren't playing together, Keziah does what she still loves to do: build forts and just chill by herself

School isn't all "bad"; there are some fun days too. A couple of weeks ago, the school was doing Book Week. On the Friday the kids had to dress up like a character from a book. Keziah chose Fancy Nancy. I tried to "dye" her hair orange, but I think I got more on her head than on her hair!! Nevertheless, there was no doubt about it - she looked so cute!!
The same day as that was Open House at the school, with the focus being on the grandparents. Keziah had a few visitors!!

Back at home, there's always fun when dad is around!!

The weather is slowly warming up - according to Pale Boy, it was warm enough to take his shirt off. I didn't mind - this kid needs any help he can get to get his summer tan going!

Ever since my dad showed the kids that there is water cress growing near our little creek up front, they are often found looking and picking it. Oh and eating it :)

Yummy. Grit and all. Look at those clean fingernails! (blech!!)

Lincoln typically falls asleep the moment his head hits his pillow at 7 pm. However, one night sleep was evading him. He came out of bed, walked into the family room and said very seriously, "Mom, I can't sleep.".

Hmmmmmm, I wonder why that would be?! Do you think it could have anything to do with the pirate bandanna on your head?!? Or what's in your hand? Or the little finger light on your finger??!!?

Keziah on the other hand lays in bed for a looong time before she falls asleep. Even if I put her to bed later, she still lays there forever awake.....and then by the time she falls asleep it's even later! And this girl needs her sleep! It being light out still past 8-8:30 doesn't help either......but when I went to tuck her in again before I went to bed, I saw she came up with a way to deal with that. It worked because she is sound asleep!

A few nights later, apparently she had cold hands.....what a clown!!

I love taking pictures of when they sleep. This was Lincoln the other night too - sleeping like he always did as a baby, with his butt up in the air!!! So cute!!!

Nathan opened up the pool last week Saturday. The heater is on but the water is still quite cold, but not cold enough to keep these kids' toes out of the water!

It is looking like we will get to use the pool this weekend - it's promising to be a warm one! Yay!!

Love these kids. So much.

If you live in Canada, the long weekend is around the corner.....I hope you have a great one!! And if you don't live in Canada, well, you still get a weekend - enjoy!! :)
