Saga of the Lost Tooth

One day, there was a beautiful brown-eyed Girl who was on the cusp of turning 7. This Girl is quite the creative and imaginative little being. Her Mother often enters a room and can see exactly where her daughter has been, thanks to the pieces of tape, thread, papers, markers, stamps, and material cut into shapes strewn about any surface of that particular room. Sometimes The Girl accompanies all this wonderful junk, other times she is off experimenting with whatever it is she has made.

When this 4 foot Girl isn't creating, she is playing with her 3.5 foot Brother - a Brother that just does not know what to do without his sister. They are often on some sort of adventure, whether that be camping, going on a vacation or having a picnic.

As I am sure you know, those suitcases are not empty. Oh no. They are filled with whatever is needed for their vacation, random items that make no sense to their Mother, but to them?! Complete sense. Until it's time to clean up......

Anyway, due to the fact that these two play together for hours in a day, it is a common occurrence for someone to get hurt, typically The Girl. Sure enough, a week ago, The Girl decided to try to eat her brother's head, which left her top front teeth still intact but very tender to the touch.

Fast forward to a few days ago......Brother and Sister are together in the pool, enjoying the plus 40 degree weather we've been having.

Brown Eyes decides that it is fun to push a soccer ball under the water as it will pop up and make Brother laugh. All is going well until the ball flies up out of the water and smucks The Girl in her face.

Ouch!!!

As she comes crying out of the pool to show her Mother where it hurts, her finger slips into a place that was previously occupied just a few short moments ago. The shock on her face made her stop crying and her mother laugh as the realization dawned that the reason why there is a gap in her mouth is because she knocked her tooth out!!

But oh no!!! The tears started up again as now the lost tooth was actually really lost! Where was it?!

Despite intense searches, the Lost Tooth was exactly that. Lost.

With reassurances from her Mother that she will lose more teeth, the tears were put away and more fun was to be had in the pool (minus pushing the soccer ball under water).

That night, everyone told The Father of the tooth mishap and that it just could not be found. The Father reassured his Darling Daughter that there is a bit of hope that the pool vacuum cleaner will suck it up and keep it safe for her.

Once the vacuum cleaner had done its job,The Boy, The Girl, The Father and The Mother (with her camera) took the vacuum cleaner out of the pool and looked in the net where it collects debris.

Any luck?! Did it get sucked up in there or was it too small??

With the help of her magnifying glass that she thought she needed to find it, the Lost Tooth was located!!

Alas!! The Lost Tooth is no longer that - lost!! With a smile that reached from ear to ear, The Girl gladly picked up her tooth, washed it off and promptly went inside the house to put the tooth in a safe spot.

The Mother and Father were left contemplating the event of how this Tooth came out so easily, as it really wasn't that wiggly to begin with, and came to the conclusion that when The Girl banged her teeth in her Brother's head a week earlier, that impact must have done a bit of damage. At any rate, the Parents are breathing a sigh of relief, knowing that it was a Baby Tooth, one that is supposed to come out. Phew!!

(and no, the Tooth Fairy does not come here. Brown-eyed girl is way too smart and does not believe in her. Her parents don't mind as it means they don't need to scramble around looking for a quarter to put under the pillow ;o)

Camping, Come and Gone

What better way to celebrate the end of school than by going camping for a week?! As soon as the year-end assembly was over, we scooted home and left right away to go camping. We were so excited to go and so we didn't waste any time.

Keziah and her stuffies.....all lined up and ready for bed :o)

After a day on our own, friends joined us. Friends with lots of kids!! And a couple days later, MORE friends came, also with lots of kids!! Between 3 families, there were 15 kids :o) You can imagine that once those kids were there, we only saw ours just before bed. They all had so much fun together!

Girls being girls = crafting, crafting, crafting

Boys will be boys = digging holes

Part boy part fish. He swam soooo much, just absolutely loving the freedom.

Due to it being so dry right now, there was a fire ban. We could only have cooking fires, meaning the fires had to be put out by 8pm. This was perfect for the kids - enough time to enjoy some roasted marshmallows and s'mores.

A tick did decide to feast on Lincoln, but thankfully there have been no symptoms of Lyme disease.

The park we went to has a tonne of mountain biking trails, much to the delight of these guys. Many, many kms were put on their bikes that week!!

A day after Canada Day, we came home. We were blessed with an amazing week with some very dear friends, friends that have been a part of our lives the last 18+ years. We are thankful for the many memories made this camping week.

Why, Hello There!!

Tap, tap, tap. Is this thing on?! Has it really been almost a month since I've updated? You'd think it's summer out or something, where more time is spent outside than inside!

Well, hello. Shall we play a little catch up?

Let me see......what has happened since June 14, my last blog post?

Play Day, last day of school, renovations, 8 days of camping, the loss of a loved one, Art Camp, just to name a few.

First off - Play Day, a fun-filled day of events at school where the students are put into teams where the goal is to work well together. Keziah's closest friend was on her team (the one pictured with her running and where she is pouring water into her cup) so that was an added bonus!!

Father's Day was a fun morning. The kids are always so excited to give their dad what they were busy making and then hiding until the Day. Both of them are great at keeping secrets.....I don't know if that's a good thing or not....

Just some fun pictures of our two blessings

I hardly see these two now that school is done. They wake up in the morning and the first thing either of them ask is, "Is Keziah awake?" "Is Lincoln awake?". And if the other one is, then off they go and play. I just love it. My heart swells.

We celebrated the ending of school by going camping for 8 days. But that's a whole blog post on its own. I hope to do that one tomorrow night!
