Sutton Fair

While we were camping, The Fair was in the town nearby. Seeing the words "Truck and Tractor Pull", we knew we just had to go. Yes, we are hicks :o)

We went a few hours before The Pull, walking around the fair, petting animals and enjoying some rides. This fair was actually quite large, with lots of different rides. We will never forget going either, as it was the fair where Keziah overcame her apprehension of rides, and was able to enjoy a few of them. And overcome she did, with the first one being a roller coaster!!!

Lincoln was also able to enjoy a few rides, the first one being Monster Trucks. Well, we think he enjoyed it. He looks pretty calm and relaxed....

Off to the ride that almost made me sick!

The biggest achievement for Keziah was that she actually went on the Bee ride. That was the ride that she just would NOT go on about a month and half ago (here). But this time she went on!! We were so proud of her! And she liked it!!

But once we had no money left, were done enjoying the rides, we went and found a spot to watch what we really came here for: the truck and tractor pull.

Keziah and especially Lincoln, were in their g-l-o-r-y just watching the grader getting the track ready.

After waiting for quite some time, the show finally began. And what a show it was!!! It was everything we came for: noisy, black smoke, blown transmissions,  broken drive shafts. Ahhhhh! Such fun!!!!

While waiting for it to begin took a bit too long for Lincoln, onceit did start, this boy was thrilled. Keziah? Well, she handled the waiting very well, but once it started.......

For Lincoln, the highlights were clearly all the trucks and tractors (and as you can tell, Lincoln wasn't the only one loving it; so was his dad!).

For Keziah, well, good thing the Fair Princess showed up. That made her night!

Much to Nathan's dismay, we left around 9 to go back to our campsite. He did ask me if I minded if he went back once we put the kids to bed. I think he knew my answer once I gave him the stinkeye. Nah, no stinkeye. But he did have to be reassured that this is the first of many Truck and Tractor pulls for the season, as the Fall Fairs are just around the corner.

Ack!! Did I just saw that Fall is around the corner??! It's actually not Fall that I am scared of. It's what comes after Fall. Oh, don't get me wrong. I love Winter. For two months. Good thing we are in for a h.o.t. week this week to keep all winter thoughts at bay (much to Keziah's chagrin, as she stated yesterday: winter is sure taking a long time to come. Bite your tongue, child!! :o)

Camping Part Four - with Friends

After being on our own for a number of days, friends of ours came up and joined in on the fun. They set up on our site and stayed for a few days, much to our delight. It sure didn't take Lincoln long to welcome them, and continued to shower lots of hugs and kisses to them.

We didn't see Keziah much those days, due to the fact that one of her most favourite friends was there to play with. These two get along very well, the cheeky monkeys:

The girls played, and played, and played. Every once in a while, Lincoln was allowed to join them.

Who knew being in a tent was so much fun?!

Yes, it was a fun time that was had by all! These girls have a special bond, a bond that we pray will continue to grow as they get older. It is really a shame that they aren't in the same school year. Oh wait, it is really a shame that they aren't even in the same school!! Maybe this next picture will convince her parents to move out this way more?!

But all good times do come to an end and before you knew it, it was time to go our separate ways. This left one in tears and the other confidently stating: I know why she is crying. It's because she will miss me.

Ah, the beauty of friendships!!

And that is it! A week filled with sand, sun, marshmellow men, traffic jams, campfires, food and friends. It was a blessed week and we thank God for the opportunity to have a week together.

Camping Part Three - Around the Campfire

What is camping without a campfire?! And what is a campfire without marshmellows and stories? A boring one, that's for sure!

We each took a turn telling a story, with daddy being the last one. He told a story about a Marshmellow Man. He had quite the captive audience:

A couple nights later, Keziah wanted to hear about this Marshmellow Man again. While he retold a bit of the story, I ran and put a marshmellow on top of his truck (as per the story). Daddy then asked Kez if she would go with him to see if the Marshmellow Man was on the truck. What do you think her answer was?!

It was probably good that she didn't go with; that gave Nathan time to add legs, arms and a head to the marshmellow that I put there. Watching her face while he came back with the Marshmellow Man was absolutely priceless!!

Ah. My gullible, lovable girl. How she so reminds me of.....me.

As for the Marshmellow Man, he is long gone. She is finally convinced that he is not real.

I do not plan on driving by any places that sell Michelin tires.....

(one more part from our camping trip yet and that will round it all up!)

Camping Part Two - The Beach and Playground!

Like I mentioned in the first post about camping, Sibbald has a great beach and playground. The weather was quite nice, and so we were able to spend a lot of time there.

The kids weren't the only ones who enjoyed the park. So did the adults! Well, that was until he whacked his shins at the end of this:

Enjoying the water and sand:

Calendar Spread of  Baby for the month of August:

Yes, even I put the camera down to play in the sand....

We brought some of Lincoln's beloved cars to the beach and he found a road he quite liked: Daddy's arm (not so sure the arm hairs liked it....):

And the best one for last: sharing stories together, while soaking up some sun rays.

(wow. I am impressed. I do believe there may be more pictures than words on this post! That has got to be a first!!! :o)

Another One Bites the Dust, er, Sand!

That's right. Another camping trip done and more memories made. So much so that I actually had to divide the pictures into 4 categories! That's what happens when you take over 200 pictures :o) In the next days, I hope to post pictures from each category, starting with today's:

Campsite Fun

We went "north", to Sibbald Point. We have gone there before. The first time was when we were married for a year. We said we would never go back as we preferred hiking and biking trails. Sibbald does not have much of this at all. What they do have is a great beach and a fantastic playground. But yeah, if you've been reading my blog for awhile, you will know that these attractions weren't really attractions for us for many years. My, how things have changed in the last 4 years! Now it is the park we look forward to going to!

It's not too far, about a 2 hour drive or so. According to Lincoln, it is about 1 hour and 45 minutes too long. Once at our site though, the fun began! But first, set up.

Daddy is never short of a helper:

Once he tired of helping, he and Keziah enjoyed the sandy site:

Lots of stories were read!

The weather was quite nice most of the time and so we were able to enjoy breakfast outside. Nothing like eating outside. Food tastes waaaaay better.

Love this girl!!!!

And this food monster!!

Lincoln learned quickly where the peaches were kept, helping himself to them:

Not sure if you were listening to the news the last few days, but did you hear about the traffic jam at Sibbald? Yup, it was at site 567.

Here they are, enjoying their favourite things.

You would think that all this poor boy does is eat. The next set of pictures will show that he does know how to do other things. But yes, eating he does best! :o)
