The Three Day Party!

Like I mentioned yesterday, we have a 4 year old in the house. We decided to take the Bible route of celebrating Keziah's birthday. It started Saturday and ended yesterday, taking a break from partying on Sunday. Keziah was spoiled with visits on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday. And spoiled she was!!!
Her birthday celebration sure started off with a bang! Good thing we had Sunday to take some time to enjoy this dollhouse and all that came with it.

Monday's celebration first included visiting Nathan's Oma, the Oma with a bun :o), who turned 88 that day!

And then on Monday afternoon, one of Keziah's good friends and her family came over for a visit. This meant getting ready by blowing up balloons and baking a cake. Another epic Pinterest fail. Oh well! At least she could tell what it was!!

E and A were very eager to give Keziah her birthday presents.

Cupcakes were enjoyed by all, as well as some swimming.

And as if Monday wasn't enough fun, we had Tuesday yet. Her actual birthday!!!

It started off with cards and presents:

She had the bike already, but now she has a basket and a seat for her baby:

Then after Lincoln's nap, it was off to the grocery store where she could pick a .25 candy from one of those dreaded canisters. She has asked for it before (which kid hasn't?!), but I've always said not until her birthday. She was pretty excited!

Back home, she enjoyed some "Happy Birthday" singing from her cousins:

Phew. After all that excitement, it was time for a snooze. Yes, this child still needs her naps every day! And will sleep for 1.5-2 hours if I let her! But because I want her back in bed by 7:30, it's just an hour.

Oma and Opa came for supper, a supper that Keziah chose. One would think a 4 year old would pick pizza, or french fries and chicken nuggets. Not this girl. She wanted chicken, cauliflower and roasted broccoli. She absolutely LOVES those veggies:

And more cake for dessert, much to Lincoln's delight!!

The day ended with a rousing game of "soccer", er, fun. I think she kicked the ball all of 3 times in an hour. The other times were spent having fun with her team mates (yes, this is during the game!). Oh, and she did play goalie. Well, one of the three goalies anyway :o)

And that was her birthday. Lots of fun! It is so neat to experience childhood again through the eyes of our children. I don't remember my 4th birthday, but I could re-live it through hers!

Before the day ended, I had her fill out this "All About Me" paper that I made up. I hope to have her fill it out every birthday from now on:

Apparently we've adopted two more children. I am not so sure how Pete and Lynne would feel about that :o)

And so we are entering her 5th year. Eek. That means when she has her 5th birthday, school is around the corner!! Noooo!! Good thing I have a whole year to prepare myself for that!! In the meantime, we praise God for blessing our family with Keziah!!

  1. It looks like Keziah had a great few days celebrating her birthday! I think your cake looks very yummy and it looks like Lincoln approved. ;) Neat idea making the "All About Me" paper. Broccoli is a great choice for a b-dinner, cauliflower, not so much! :)

    1. Yes, Lincoln approved. There sure isn't much that he wouldn't, the piggy :o) He would agree with your choice of leaving out the cauliflower (and broccoli if he had his way!)

  3. I think mom needs to go back to school. I could only count three candles.

    1. Ha! I knew someone would pick up on that. She actually didn't want 4 candles, but a candle with a 4 on it. So the middle large candle has a 4, and it came with the other two candles.

    1. Thanks, Jen. From what I recall, your ladybug cupcakes turned out a whole lot better than mine!! Mine were so bad the camera didn't even snap a picture! Good thing they tasted better than they looked :o)
